I guess you are into Charles Spurgeon lately, Russell! I like your quotes. Another way (more secularly and simply) to say this may be:

I don't know what his beliefs were, or if indeed he originated this quotation, but I like it and have seen it on a poster at more than one schools. I hope you and your family are doing great.
